The Baale of Ekotedo, Elder (Dr.) Taiye Ayorinde, has issued a strong defence of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, warning that workers and pensioners in the state would not hesitate to confront anyone who speaks ill of the governor.
Speaking to journalists in Ibadan, the respected nonagenarian community leader described Governor Makinde as a “blessing” to the people of Oyo, countering claims by political opponents who view the governor as a burden.
“Go and ask the teachers; go and ask the pensioners,” Ayorinde said. “They will tell you, ‘Don’t say nonsense in our presence.’ They can stone you if you say Makinde is not a blessing. The teachers will club you.”
He attributed this fierce loyalty to Makinde’s visible achievements across sectors including infrastructure, health, agribusiness, and tourism.
“He is a willing performer,” Ayorinde noted, adding that the governor has exceeded expectations.
