Oyo State’s health initiatives have significantly upgraded medical services while reducing the impact of doctor emigration, Health Commissioner Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi announced on Thursday.
Speaking at the Omituntun 2.0 Inter-Ministerial Briefing in Ibadan, Ajetunmobi revealed the Seyi Makinde administration’s interventions have:
– Slashed maternal and child mortality rates
– Renovated hundreds of health facilities
– Recruited thousands of medical staff with enhanced welfare packages
The commissioner also attributed the sector’s progress to strategic investments in infrastructure and personnel retention measures combating the “Japa syndrome” brain drain.
“Our workforce stabilization efforts are showing results alongside measurable health outcome improvements,” Ajetunmobi stated, noting upgraded equipment and expanded primary care access across all 33 LGAs.
According to her, there is elevated health access across the state, with the government renovating several other health facilities in the secondary and tertiary health sectors.
