Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), has challenged Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to explain the reasons behind his remarks disowning him.
Wabara’s reaction follows Wike’s statement during a media chat in Abuja, where he claimed he would have disowned Wabara if he were his father.
Describing Wike’s comments as disgraceful and unbecoming of a man of honour, Wabara issued a strongly-worded statement criticizing the minister’s choice of words. “It is not a mark of maturity to spew gibberish like a broken water pipe without a tap,” Wabara said, adding that Wike should speak with decorum befitting his position.
The former Senate President expressed disappointment in Wike’s criticism of his leadership as PDP BoT Chairman, urging him to verify his facts before making public remarks. Wabara added, “I would expect a man of his calibre and status to mind his language and words. But I don’t want to dignify him by joining issues with him.”
Wike’s recent comments have drawn attention amid his controversial political journey, having joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after falling out with the PDP leadership. His frequent criticisms of the party continue to stoke political tensions.
