The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Seun Adelore, has officially resigned from the party.

Adelore, a long-time ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, made his decision known in a resignation letter made available to journalists on Sunday in Ibadan. He cited “deep-seated injustice within the party, a lack of reward for loyalty, and a growing departure from democratic principles” as reasons for his exit.

In the letter, Adelore accused the party of being increasingly hijacked by select factions who now run it like a private business, sidelining genuine party members and undermining internal democracy.

However, party insiders told The PUNCH that Adelore’s resignation may be linked to recent internal wrangling over the alleged imposition of Folajimi Oyekunle, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, as the party’s consensus candidate for the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election.
