The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially declared his intention to run for president again in 2027, firmly shutting down speculations about teaming up as a running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obi made the announcement during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he stated, “I’m going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe I am qualified for it.”
Addressing the swirling rumours of a possible political alliance with Atiku, Obi was clear: “This is not in play; nobody has ever discussed that. People assume so many things. Nobody has ever discussed with me whether I am going to be A or B or C.”
