The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has called for the immediate release of popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, also known as SeaKing, who was arrested and arraigned in court after criticizing him on social media.
Adeboye, in a viral video seen on Saturday, distanced himself from the arrest, stating that he had no knowledge of the incident or those responsible for it. He expressed surprise over the situation, insisting that he never ordered the detention of the content creator.
SeaKing was arrested in December 2024 following a petition by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum, a group that took offense at his TikTok post. In the video, the influencer had condemned Adeboye’s call for a 100-day fast for Nigeria, describing the directive as “stupid.” His arrest triggered widespread backlash online, with many questioning the legality of the action.
Adeboye, however, dismissed any notion of personal offense, stating that his fasting directive was solely meant for members of RCCG. “I heard there was someone who lambasted me thoroughly because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I didn’t ask him, I didn’t ask anyone who is not a member of RCCG,” he said.
The cleric further noted that while some individuals may have acted out of anger, they should not have taken matters into their own hands. Urging those behind the arrest to let SeaKing go, he added, “Release him. He is fulfilling prophecy.”
His statement has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his call for justice while others question how the arrest happened without his knowledge. Many on social media have continued to demand accountability from law enforcement authorities over the incident.
