The Presidency has refuted viral claims that President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
There were widespread reports on Monday alleging that Yakubu had been relieved of his duties and replaced by a certain Professor Bashiru Olamilekan, a development that sparked public reactions.
However, in a swift response, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Digital and New Media, O’tega Ogra, dismissed the reports as entirely false and misleading.
“Disregard any fake news making the rounds about the replacement of the INEC Chairman,” Ogra posted via his official X handle.
