The Prince of Wales is expected in South of France this weekend to deliver a powerful call for global cooperation to protect the world’s oceans, as part of events marking World Oceans Day.
Prince William is set to give what his team has described as a “landmark speech” on Sunday at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco. Speaking as founder of the Earthshot Prize — an initiative that supports innovative solutions to environmental challenges — he will urge environmentalists, investors, and global leaders to take immediate and unified action to safeguard marine ecosystems.
“The Prince of Wales feels passionately about action being taken to protect and restore our oceans,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson told the BBC.
The forum, held at the striking Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, precedes the UN Oceans Conference in Nice next week. It aims to explore the vital role oceans play in areas such as global trade, food security, biodiversity, and sustainable energy.
Recall that rising sea temperatures, pollution, and overfishing have placed immense pressure on marine environments and the communities that depend on them. Experts say the time to act is rapidly narrowing.
