Wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has taken legal action against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, filing multiple lawsuits at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to The Guardian, the N251 Billion suits follow statements allegedly made by Akpoti-Uduaghan during a Senate session and a televised interview on Arise News, which Mrs. Akpabio claims were defamatory and violated her fundamental rights.

In one of the lawsuits (Suit No: CV/814/25), Mrs Ekaette Akpabio argues that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s remarks on the Senate floor on February 20, 2025, and her subsequent comments on television, infringed on her rights under Nigeria’s Constitution and international human rights laws. The allegations have sparked fresh controversy within political circles, intensifying the ongoing rift between the two lawmakers.

Mrs. Akpabio is seeking a court declaration that the senator’s statements amounted to a violation of her fundamental rights. She is also requesting an order of perpetual injunction to restrain Akpoti-Uduaghan from making what she describes as “inciteful, scandalous, and spiteful” remarks that have allegedly caused emotional and psychological distress to her and her children.

The legal battle follows Akpoti-Uduaghan’s earlier claims that her troubles in the Senate began after she rejected alleged advances from Senate President Akpabio. The accusation has fueled political tensions, with supporters on both sides weighing in on the escalating dispute.
