The 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore was reportedly attacked by suspected thugs during the Lagos City Marathon on Saturday morning.
Sowore, who was participating in the marathon alongside his media crew, was assaulted by the attackers, who also targeted journalists covering the event. Several victims sustained injuries, while cameras and other media equipment were destroyed in the chaos.
A video of the incident shows the thugs physically attacking Sowore and his crew. In one instance, a thug was seen grabbing a journalist by the neck while attempting to seize his camera.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and there has been no official response from the marathon organizers or security agencies.
