Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has expressed that he is not eager to return to office, despite nearly two months having passed since President Bola Tinubu declared emergency rule in the state.

Speaking during a service of songs in Port Harcourt, the state capital, held in honour of the late Edwin Clark, a prominent elder statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Fubara addressed the audience with a candid message.

“Have you asked yourself, do you think I’m interested in going back there?” Fubara asked, as he addressed the crowd. “Don’t you see how much better I’m doing?” He continued, reiterating his position: “If I had my way, I would say this is it. This is the will of God. I don’t wish to go back there. My spirit has left that place.”

The service of songs was held to commemorate the life and legacy of Clark, who played a significant role in advocating for the rights of the Niger Delta region.
