The Take-It-Back Movement has vowed to go ahead with its planned nationwide protest on Monday, April 7, 2025, despite potential state resistance.
The protest, themed “Nationwide Protest Against Bad Governance and Free Speech Suppression,” is meant to challenge what the group calls the “growing authoritarianism” of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.
In a statement issued by the National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, the Movement demanded the immediate repeal of the Cybercrime Act and an end to the “military-style” emergency rule currently in place in Rivers State.
“Our protest is about keeping the civic gate open. We want to make it clear that Nigerians have the right to organize against systemic injustice and the policies of a government that continues to shrink democratic freedoms,” Sanyaolu stated.
He maintained that preparations for the protest are in full gear and will proceed as scheduled, regardless of threats, intimidation, or state interference.
According to the Movement, the April 7 demonstration will serve as a collective voice against the erosion of civil liberties, the tightening grip on civic spaces, and what they describe as oppressive governance under President Tinubu.
