Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, has claimed the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammy Awards with her song Love Me JeJe.

She triumphed over strong competition, including Tomorrow by Yemi Alade, MMS by Asake featuring Wizkid, Sensational by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and Higher by Burna Boy.

This victory marks Tems’ second Grammy win, further cementing her status as one of Africa’s most successful global artists. The Best African Music Performance category was first introduced in 2024, with South Africa’s Tyla winning the inaugural award for her hit Water.

Tems had a strong presence at this year’s Grammys, earning three nominations. Alongside her win, she was also in contention for Best Global Music Album with Born in the Wild and Best R&B Song for Burning, bringing her career total to eight nominations.
