President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of new governing council members for three federal universities: the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka.
This follows the February dissolution of UNIABUJA’s governing council and the controversial removal of its vice-chancellor, Aisha Maikudi, over questions regarding her eligibility.
In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the appointments are part of Tinubu’s ongoing reforms in the education sector aimed at strengthening university governance and academic excellence.
