President Bola Tinubu has condemned the renewed wave of deadly attacks in Plateau State, calling on the state’s leadership to urgently tackle the persistent communal violence that continues to claim innocent lives.

His remarks followed the latest bloodshed in Zikke and Kakpa communities in Bassa Local Government Area, where at least 51 people were killed and scores injured by gunmen in the early hours of Monday. The incident comes barely two weeks after similar attacks claimed several lives in other parts of the state.

In a statement on Monday, Tinubu expressed deep concern over the recurring violence in the North Central state, stressing that such brutality must not be allowed to continue. He urged local leaders to collaborate with security agencies to restore peace and bring perpetrators to justice.

“Violence and bloodshed have no place in our society,” the president stated. “We must collectively find sustainable solutions to end this cycle of tragedy that has plagued Plateau State for far too long.”

Recall that Plateau has long been a flashpoint of ethno-religious and land-related conflicts, especially between farmers and nomadic cattle herders. In the latest spate of violence, residents reported that 51 bodies were recovered in Zikke and Kimakpa villages alone, with several others sustaining severe injuries.
