President Bola Tinubu on Monday declared that his administration is steadily delivering on its promise to transform Nigeria into a global agricultural powerhouse, as he launched the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme in Abuja.
Speaking at the launch, Tinubu revealed that the programme aims to overhaul Nigeria’s agricultural sector by making it more attractive—particularly to young Nigerians. “We are making farming more sexy, more rewarding, and more central to our future,” he said.
A fleet of modern agricultural machinery and equipment were made available including: over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 heavy-duty bulldozers for land preparation, 12 fully-equipped mobile workshops, and more than 9,000 specialised farming implements. These assets are expected to be deployed nationwide to support large-scale farming, boost food production, and create jobs.
“We are no longer talking about agriculture in theory. We are putting real tools in the hands of real farmers,” the president said, stressing the administration’s commitment to practical reforms that will drive self-sufficiency and reduce food imports.
