The United Kingdom is hosting a two-day international summit aimed at tackling the growing global challenge of illegal migration.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will lead discussions with representatives from more than 40 nations, urging them to take decisive action against human trafficking networks and prevent immigration policies from becoming sources of international conflict.

The summit, which begins on Monday, is the first of its kind and is expected to produce concrete measures to enhance international cooperation in disrupting people-smuggling operations.

Starmer is set to emphasize the need for a unified global response, calling the exploitation of migrants by criminal organizations a “vile trade” that must be dismantled.

Immigration remains a critical political issue in the UK, with opposition parties, including the Conservatives and Reform UK, accusing the Labour government of failing to adequately address border security concerns. The summit provides an opportunity for the UK government to reinforce its commitment to tackling migration challenges while fostering international partnerships to curb illegal crossings and enhance border enforcement strategies.
