Parents of candidates affected by the recent UTME technical errors have appealed to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to postpone the rescheduled examination, which is set to begin today, May 16, 2025.
Their demand follows an official post by JAMB on Thursday via its X handle, announcing that all affected candidates must reprint their examination slips ahead of the resit.
A sample text message received by one student read: “You have been scheduled to sit the 2025 UTME Resit examination slated for Friday, May 16, 2025 by 12:00 pm.”
But many parents say the new date is unrealistic, noting that their children are still sitting for the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Others raised concerns about the short notice, emotional distress caused by the initial disruption, and the long distances to assigned centres.
Speaking with The PUNCH, some parents urged JAMB to shift the resit to June to allow students recover and prepare adequately, warning that rushing the process could affect performance and morale.
