Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to prioritize their health and support one another in the fight against cancer. She reiterates the importance of awareness, early detection, and equitable access to treatment.
In a statement marking the 2025 World Cancer Day on Tuesday, Senator Tinubu highlighted the devastating impact of cancer on individuals and families across Nigeria and beyond. She stressed the need for collaborative efforts to combat the disease and ensure access to quality healthcare for all.
“As we observe World Cancer Day today, we are reminded of the burden cancer places on millions of individuals and families in Nigeria and around the globe,” her message partly read.
She called on Nigerians to embrace regular screenings, adopt healthier lifestyles, and support ongoing initiatives aimed at cancer prevention and treatment.
World Cancer Day, observed annually on February 4, focuses on raising global awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.
This year’s commemoration reinforces the urgency of addressing disparities in healthcare access, particularly in developing countries.
The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to supporting cancer-related initiatives in Nigeria, calling on stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to strengthen efforts in reducing the disease’s impact on society.
