The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has officially banned the protest anthem “Tell Your Papa” by veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem from being broadcast on radio and television stations across the country.

NBC’s Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, said the commission cited “objectionable lyrics” that allegedly violate the code of responsible broadcasting.

“The National Broadcasting Commission has identified the song ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris Abdulkareem, currently trending on social media, as content deemed inappropriate for broadcast due to its objectionable nature,” the memo read.

The song, which has gained momentum online, is widely seen as a bold critique of government leadership and social injustice in Nigeria.

While the exact lyrics flagged by the NBC were not disclosed, sources within the industry say the song directly challenges political elites and urges Nigerian youth to hold their leaders accountable.
