Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has decried the state of leadership across Africa, stating that the continent continues to suffer from governance failures despite the global boom of its entertainment industry.

Speaking on Apple Music’s Ebro Darden Show, Davido highlighted the disconnect between the vibrancy of African music and the stagnation in political leadership, particularly in Nigeria.

“In terms of leadership, we’re lacking. Our governments are some of the worst, but it’s the entertainment sector that’s rewriting the narrative for us,” he said.

Davido expressed pride in how the music industry has become a ray of hope, altering global perceptions of Nigeria and opening new doors for cultural appreciation.

He noted that Nigeria’s creative industry is now drawing international attention, with Lagos transforming into a prime destination for global tourists, especially during the festive season.
